MUS 1630 Applied Compositon and Songwriting

(formerly MUS 163)

This course allows students to create original songs and composition for diverse combinations of instrumental and vocal forces. Students engage and work with music theory concepts such as harmony, melody and rhythm and apply them to their own original works. Students use computer software to aid them in musical creation. Students may also choose to develop electronic pieces or works that explore multimedia. Students actively engage in musical analysis and discuss concepts of musical creation in-depth.
