BUS 3760 Understanding Estate Planning

This course serves as a mandatory prerequisite for a student to prepare and apply for the Certified Financial Planner™ Certification Examination. Estate planning represents 15% of questions on the CFP Exam. The course provides students with an introduction to the process of developing an estate plan and understanding the tax consequences of an estate. Students will gain a working knowledge of estate planning concepts, including how and when estate taxes, gift taxes and generation skipping transfer taxes are applied. Topics will also include the process of transferring property to others during lifetime as well as through the probate process at death.
