NUR 5882 Pathophysiology/Pharmacology/Therapeutics in Adult Care II

This course provides didactic content to prepare the Advanced Practice Nurse to provide acute care to adults, including older persons, experiencing acute, chronic and/or critical illness of the neurologic, endocrine, GI, renal and GU/GYN systems. Students explore the dynamic between the pathophysiologic basis of disease and the psychosocial and socio-cultural responses to acute and critical illness and injury as they develop comprehensive diagnosis and management of acute/chronic health problems, including appropriate diagnostic procedures, laboratory tests and follow-up care for patients with both acute and chronic conditions. Didactic content professional, ethical and legal issues are also addressed. 30 lecture hours per semester.
