NUR 5881 Pathophysiology/Pharmacology/Therapeutics in Adult Care I

This course provides hybrid, didactic content to prepare the Advanced Practice Nurse to provide acute care to adults, including older persons, experiencing acute, chronic and/or critical illness of the cardiac, pulmonary, acid/base and renal systems. Students explore the dynamic between the pathophysiologic basis of disease and the psychosocial and socio-cultural responses to acute and critical illness and injury as they develop comprehensive diagnosis and management of health problems, including appropriate diagnostic procedures, laboratory tests and follow-up care for patients with both acute and chronic conditions. Didactic content professional, ethical and legal issues are also addressed. 45 lecture hours per semester.
