Office of Admission (admit@marietta.edu)
Director of Admission: Christopher Scheppner (cts002@marietta.edu)
Vice President for Enrollment Management: Heidi Terry (hlt002@marietta.edu)
General Information
Marietta College makes no distinction in the admission of students, or in any other of its activities, based on race, color, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, creed, disability, age, or national origin.
Marietta College offers degrees at the bachelor's and master's levels. Associate degrees are also available to those admitted to the Continuing Education Program.
Admission to Marietta College is competitive and based on a review of each applicant’s academic qualifications. We are a test-optional college for undergraduate (UG) admission and do not require the submission of standardized test scores for admission consideration.
UG applicants with a cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or better and graduate (GR) applicants with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or better typically retain and graduate from Marietta College at a higher rate than those with lower GPAs and, consequently, are viewed more favorably for admission consideration.
All candidates wishing to participate in Marietta College courses offered for college credit, regardless of whether or not they wish to complete a degree, must be formally admitted to the college. Unless otherwise specified, undergraduate (UG) and non-degree seeking students are admitted to the College by the Director of Admission and/or the Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing, and Communications. Applications and supporting credentials for graduate (GR) program admission are reviewed by the Office of Admissions and the graduate program to which the applicant is seeking admission, and decisions are made by the graduate program director unless otherwise delegated to the Director of Admission and/or the Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing, and Communications. Graduate level admission criterion varies by program and reflects an evaluation of the applicant’s potential to complete graduate-level work.
Applications for admission will be reviewed on a rolling basis for all programs excluding the Physician Assistant program, and the Office of Admission will make every effort to provide notification of a decision within 7-10 days of completion of the application file.
Misrepresentation/Fraudulent Reporting in Admissions Materials:
Applicants must provide accurate and complete information on all application documents. Intentional omission or falsification of information during the application process will result in the rejection of the application. Application misrepresentation includes, but is not limited to:
- false, omitted, or misleading information on the application, medical or immunization forms, financial aid disclosures, or during the personal interview (when applicable),
- fake, forged, or altered transcripts, standardized test scores, or letters of recommendation.
An offer of admission ordinarily will be withdrawn if Marietta College discovers that a false statement or falsified material was submitted in connection with an application. If the misrepresentation is discovered after a student has enrolled, the student may be subject to loss of credits earned and/or separation from the College.
Post-Admissions and Pre-Matriculation/Enrollment Disclaimer:
Any individual applying or enrolled in the College must promptly notify the Director of Admissions in writing if any of the following occurs after admission but before matriculation/enrollment: any criminal charge; any disposition of a criminal charge; any type of military discharge other than honorable; or any school, college, or university disciplinary action against the student. Failure to report any of the above actions is grounds for denial or rescinded admission to MC, and dismissal after enrollment.
