Academic Standing
Enrollment Status
A MASL student is considered full-time when carrying a 6-credit hour load or more.
A student enrolled in 3 credit hours is considered half-time.
Probation, Extension, and Academic Dismissal
A MASL student who receives a grade of “C” or below in any course will be placed on academic probation. A student who receives two or more grades of “C” or below in any graduate course in the program will be dismissed.
Students are expected to complete all MASL program requirements within two academic years. However, if individual circumstances warrant, a student may petition for an additional academic year to complete the program. Under normal circumstances, students not completing the program in three academic years will be dismissed. A student who has engaged in unethical or unprofessional conduct may also be dismissed as determined by the Program Director in consultation with the Provost.
A student may appeal a decision of dismissal to the Graduate Council. Students who are dismissed from the MASL program, but who have an appeal regarding dismissal granted by the Graduate Council (or the College Provost) remain on academic probation and will be dismissed in the instance of any additional grade of “C” or below in any graduate course.
