Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology

Major Requirements

Kinesiology majors must have earned certification in First Aid, CPR and AED at the conclusion of their freshman year. Transfer students must have earned certification in First Aid, CPR and
AED upon first day of attendance at Jacksonville University as a Kinesiology major.  Kinesiology majors must complete the University Core, Lower Division Kinesiology Prerequisites, Kinesiology Core, and one of the Kinesiology Concentrations (Health, Wellness and Performance OR Pre-Health Professional) to meet 120 credit hours required for graduation.

Students are required to maintain a minimum GPA:

• 2.5, if declared as Kinesiology major in the Health, Wellness and Performance Concentration
• 2.75, if declared as a Kinesiology major in the Pre-Health Professional Concentration

Students are required to meet with their Kinesiology academic advisors and Kinesiology faculty mentor at least once per semester. The Kinesiology major advisor will monitor the student
major’s progress and provide appropriate advisement.

It is recommended that Kinesiology majors become members of the Kinesiology Student Society, the student major club that provides mentorship, tutoring, comradery and information
about department, campus and fitness events.

Health, Wellness and Performance Concentration

If the student is preparing for Master’s programs in Physical Rehabilitation, Biomedical Engineering or Prosthetics and Orthotics, it is recommended that the student enroll in the Health, Wellness and Performance Concentration. There is opportunity for general electives to be filled with the additional mathematics and/or behavioral course requirements required for admission to post-baccalaureate programs in these and related areas.
