ELE 202 CM 1 - Mathematics I
This module is the first part of a two semestersequence designed to give students an in-depthknowledge of mathematics in elementary schools.Topics in elementary mathematics will be examinedfrom a problem solving and conceptual frameworkwith a view to in-depth understanding of thesetopics and their interrelationships. Topics willinclude sets, numeration systems, computatioalmethods, algebraic concepts and number theory.Emphasis will be placed on the use ofmanipulatives and technology for gainingunderstanding and solving problems. The approachwill integrate the understanding of these topicsand their interrelationships with the approachesto teaching these topics in (K-6) classrooms.This is a required content module for allelementary education majors.
