Course Description
This course provides an opportunity for students to apply and combine classroom and laboratory knowledge to actual work experiences that focuses on a supervised work experience for students to gain knowledge and experience with the turf industry.

- Perform the landscape tasks for the current season as related to turfgrass management. (CCC 1, 2, 3, 5, 6; PGC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
- Apply construction and installation techniques as related to the turf industry. (CCC 1, 2, 3, 5, 6; PGC 1, 3, 4, 5)
- Employ irrigation systems used in the turfgrass industry. (CCC 1, 2, 3, 5, 6; PGC 1, 2, 5)
- Demonstrate pest control and chemical applications involved in the turf industry. (CCC 1, 2, 4, 5, 6; PGC 1, 2, 5)
- Demonstrate the proper care and use of mowing equipment. (CCC 1, 2, 5; PGC 1, 2, 5)

Measurable Performance Objectives (MPOs)
Upon completion of this course, the student will:
- Perform the landscape tasks for the current season as related to turfgrass management.
- Practice common maintenance tasks involved with turf management.
- Manage pests and diseases found in the turf industry.
- Apply methods for renovating a declining stand of turfgrass.
- Demonstrate care and maintenance of establishing turfgrass.
- Demonstrate safe equipment operation on a turfgrass facility.
- Apply construction and installation techniques as related to the turf industry.
- Use a landscape plan for turfgrass installation.
- Practice skills necessary to condition soil, and prepare beds for plant materials.
- Renovate a declining stand of turfgrass.
- Employ irrigation systems used in the turfgrass industry.
- Install piping and sprinkler heads on a turfgrass facility.
- Practice techniques for placing sprinkler heads on greens.
- Operate control valves; gate, ball, check, spring loaded, and float varieties.
- Demonstrate pest control and chemical applications involved in the turf industry.
- Review chemical material safety data sheet (MSDS) requirements of applied pesticides.
- Identify pests and diseases encountered on turfgrass facility.
- Participate in the application of pesticides on a turfgrass facility.
- Demonstrate the proper care and use of mowing equipment.
- Select proper mowing heights used on a turfgrass facility.
- Apply maintenance needs of turfgrass mowing equipment.
- Demonstrate the calibration, maintenance, and operation of various types of sprayers and spreaders.
