Pathways for Undeclared Students

The Pathways for Undeclared Students program is designed for students who have not yet selected a major and wish to explore academic interests while making meaningful progress toward degree completion. Through a structured combination of General Education coursework, academic advising, career exploration, and introductory courses aligned with potential fields of study, students can investigate academic and career options while remaining on track for timely graduation.

Students enrolled in Pathways work closely with academic advisors to develop an individualized academic plan that supports exploration and informed major selection. Coursework completed within the Pathways program is intended to satisfy General Education requirements and may apply toward future degree programs, depending on the student's chosen major.

Students are encouraged to declare a major as early as possible, typically by the completion of their first year, to ensure efficient progress toward graduation requirements. Upon selection of a major, students will transition into the appropriate academic program and follow the requirements established for that degree.

In addition to successful completion of required General Education courses and other approved coursework within the Pathways program, students pursuing a bachelor's degree at West Liberty University must earn a minimum of 120 credit hours for graduation. This program provides a structured academic pathway that allows students to maintain satisfactory progress toward degree completion while exploring academic and career interests.
