FIN-860 AI & Machine Learning in Risk Management and Data Security

Financial services firms — digital lenders, payment networks, neobanks, traditional institutions, and the RegTech vendors that serve them — run on data and, increasingly, on AI & machine learning (ML). Taught from the perspective of a risk manager or analyst, this course examines how AI and ML are used for risk management and data security.Students engage in hands-on work using structured Google Colab notebooks, modifying and refining sample code to analyze real-world scenarios such as credit default classification, fraud detection, and market risk measurement. The primary focus is learning to interpret model outputs, question core assumptions, and evaluate model trustworthiness.
