ENG-221 Tactical Rhetoric
This course develops intermediate-level skills and concepts of rhetoric. We’ll get stronger at reading so we can better understand whatever moment we are in. We’ll get stronger at writing so we can better meet that moment. We’ll listen in good faith without being fooled. We’ll persuade without being manipulative. We’ll grapple with the ethics of how we frame important issues and the people affected by them. We will consider rhetorical acts as arising from and responding to multiple intersecting contexts, including unequal relationships of power. Students will also put theory into practice, working in teams to create a public-facing rhetoric project of their own design.
