Challenge Exams

Nursing students who transfer into the program and wish to receive credit for previously taken nursing courses in nutrition and pharmacology must provide an official transcript and take the University-designated challenge exam. Students must pass level two of the challenge exam in order to receive credit. Challenge exams may not be taken for clinical courses.

  1. Pharmacology courses must be nursing pharmacology from an accredited R.N. prelicensure program, with a minimum grade of B-. Students with previous nursing pharmacology coursework must pass NSG220 and then can take a standardized exam. Reaching the established benchmark (Level II) on the exam will exempt the student from taking NSG225. The student may attempt to test out one time.

  2. Nutrition courses may receive transfer credit on a case-by-case basis as evaluated by the program director or designee; minimum grade of B-. Students who have taken a nutrition course are eligible to take the standardized nutrition exam. Reaching the established benchmark (Level II) will exempt the student from taking NSG 460 Nutrition. The student may attempt to test out one time.
