NSG 100 Introduction to Nursing as a Profession

This course introduces students to what it means to be a member of the profession of nursing and the skill knowledge and attitudes that underpin nursing practice. The values, principles, and standards developed by the profession are discussed as a framework for personal and professional development. Students are introduced to scholarly writing, drug dosage calculations, and NCLEX style evaluation methods. Students examine their individual learning style and ability to think critically and apply this knowledge to develop a personal strategy for success in the nursing program. This course has a NCLEX preparation and testing fee. Prerequisites: ENG111, PSY110, MAT111 or higher, MED120, MED210, and SCI250 with a B- or higher and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.
