MED 130 Medical Insurance, Billing, and Coding
This course trains students in the major medical insurance and claim forms processing. It includes information on national and other common insurance plans, as well as claim form completion and ICD and CPT coding. Problem solving and managed care systems are also discussed. Daily financial practices including patient fee determining, credit arrangements bookkeeping, and bank-keeping procedures are discussed. Additionally the process of purchasing equipment and supplies are covered. Computer use in the ambulatory environment is also taught. This course has a computer lab fee. Prerequisite: MED120.
