AUMF 1410 Manufacturing Electrical Methods and Practices
This course provides instruction in the fundamental concepts of industrial electrical wiring with an emphasis on safe installation practices in manufacturing environments. Students develop the knowledge and skills to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems while adhering to industry safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Topics include grounding and bonding, raceways and conduit systems, wire sizing, overcurrent protection, and applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements. Instruction also covers single phase and three-phase systems, transformers, feeder circuits, and the installation of switches, receptacles, and cord-connected equipment.
The course integrates workplace safety practices essential to manufacturing. Students perform safety inspections, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions. Additional topics include emergency procedures, lockout/tagout, equipment and operator safety, and workplace organization strategies such as the 5S/ 6S lean systems.
Upon completion, students will be prepared to safely install and service industrial electrical systems while supporting a safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing environment
