Post-Master’s Certificate for Sustainable Agriculture

The Post-Master’s Certificate for Sustainable Agriculture provides credentialed post-secondary environmental education that increases awareness and knowledge about environmental and conservation issues related to agricultural practices, while providing the participants the skills necessary to make informed decisions and take responsible actions to foster increased use of sustainable farming methods.

It requires the completion of 17 credit hours which includes an intensive three-week summer session on campus. Students must complete each course with a passing grade (C or better.)

Admission Requirements

Admission occurs on a rolling basis. This program is ineligible for financial aid.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 / 4.0 or higher on any undergraduate work
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 / 4.0 or higher on any graduate work

Application Requirements:

We are not currently enrolling in this program.

To apply for the program, please submit the following:

  • Completed online application.
  • Official college transcripts sent directly to us from the college or university you attended.
  • An application letter clearly demonstrating: 1) significant passion for a career in this field of study, 2) general familiarity with the key concepts related to sustainable agriculture, and 3) a plan for application of skills and content knowledge to a related career after completing the certificate.
  • Current resume.
  • Name, E-Mail and Phone Number for three references who can assess your professional or academic experience.

Additional Requirements for International Applicants

  • College transcripts. Course-by-course transcript evaluations, translated in English and converted to a US grading scale, must be requested by WES, World Education Services,wes.org, or ECE, Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc,www.ece.org.
  • Official TOEFL scores (We require a minimum score of 62 for the internet based test and 500 on the paper based test). Other English proficiency tests may be accepted and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Academic residence requirements

During the campus term, students are encouraged, but not required, to live on the SMWC campus.Thus, there is no academic residence requirement for any component of the program. Students from local areas may choose to commute for the campus portion of the program.
