Undeclared Pre-Nursing Program

Students accepted into the Undeclared Pre-Nursing Program have specific requirements to meet before requesting to change in the BS Nursing Program. Please refer to the requirements below.

Science Course Requirements

  • A minimum grade of C+ or higher is required in all required science courses.
  • Science courses must be taken in-person - online courses are not permitted for science coursework.
  • Each science course may be repeated one time only.
  • Withdrawing from a course counts as an attempt/repeat.
  • Students who earn a minimum grade of C+ in BIO 1200 and CHE 1120 but do not meet the required overall GPA of 3.0 may progress to the next sequence, BIO 1210 and BIO 2450, while continuing to complete general education courses to improve their cumulative GPA to 3.0.
  • If a student does not successfully complete a science course after the second attempt or repeat, they will not be eligible for admission into the Nursing program.

Declaration of Nursing Major

Students accepted as Undeclared BS Pre-Nursing Program may apply to change their major to Nursing after meeting the following requirements:

  • Successful completion of at least one full-time semester which must include BIO 1200 and CHE 1120 with a minimum grade of C+ in each course
  • Achievement of a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Eligible students may submit a Change of Major application through Lion’s Den.

Please note that admission into the BS Nursing program is highly competitive, and only a limited number of students are accepted each semester. Admission decisions are based on overall GPA and performance in science coursework.
