NUR 3590 Humanistic Nursing Care of the Childbearing Family
This Level III theory and clinical nursing course focuses on the nursing care of women, within the context of the family, during the reproductive and childbearing cycles. Issues and the application of the nursing process related to female reproductive roles, sexuality and physiological/psychological abnormalities are discussed. Content related to conception, the childbearing process, postpartum and newborn assessment and care is included. This full semester 4 credit course allocates: two (2) hour/week theory course, 1 credit towards 37.5 hours face to face patient encounters and 1 credit (25 hrs) to alternative clinical experiences including high fidelity simulation, v-sim experiences, case studies, and other modalities for a total of 62.5 clinical hours.
