SWK 3560 Child and Adolescent Services and Systems of Care

(Formerly Children with Special Needs)

This course examines the role of social workers and human service providers in supporting children and adolescents with diverse learning, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral challenges, and their family's interface with multiple services and systems of care. It will focus on a systems approach to working with children and adolescents who have special needs that require assistance to address their welfare including counseling, parent training, school support, linkage to support services and advocacy. The course will provide students with the opportunity to learn from professionals in multi disciplines, i.e., Social Workers, Speech and Language Pathologists, Nurses.
