PSY 3800 Introduction to Child Life

This course is designed to introduce students to the field of Child Life and acquire the fundamental skills in helping children and families cope with the stress of a health care experience. Child Life programs strive to promote optimum development of children, adolescents and families, to maintain normal living patterns and to minimize psychological trauma. The course will cover the six core required area as designated by the Child Life Council: Child Life Documents, Scope of Practice, Impact of Injury and Illness, Family Centered Care, Therapeutic Play and Preparation.
