ITA 3120 Italian Culture

This course is designed as an introduction to Italian culture that follows the paths of history, literature, and the arts from different angles. It provides students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge of Italian society, past and present, and to recognize distinctive viewpoints. The goal is to strengthen their cultural competency as a core component of language learning and to expose them to manifold practices and perspectives of Italian speakers. In particular, students are led to recognize and value the connection to language through culture and are encouraged to apply what they learn in this course to their other studies, as well as to bring in their Italian studies the lore of their prior acquisitions in other subjects.
