This course delves into the history of the graphic interchange format image (GIF) as well as how to create them, implement them and consider them in a scope of the creativity of the web. The use of the short, infinitely looping animations are a form of artistic expression on sites like Tumblr and BuzzFeed as well as part of our cultural discussion. The course will explain the history and theory of the motion image and educate students on the various methods of GIF creation and distribution.
