TRS 1420 Religious Diversity and Its Challenges

(formerly TRS 142)

The existence of many religions in the world and in American society creates both questions and opportunities. The course examines historical and contemporary examples of religiously diverse societies, and explores the theological, philosophical, social scientific, and political issues raised by religious diversity. The course will discuss a variety of different models for understanding religious difference and religious pluralism, and diverse ways that scholars, the public, and people of all faiths (or no particular faith) are addressing the reality of religious diversity today.
