ENGY 401 Energy Systems Design

This course will reinforce the social, economic and technical knowledge needed to analyze energy systems including both renewable and non-renewable sources. It will provide students with a practical experience designing an energy system that optimizes resources, generation, and use of energy. Students are given an opportunity to consider the utilization of a particular energy system and to analyze its environmental impact. The optimization project will be conducted for a site in a Developing Country. The students will consider sustainability issues on both local and global scales, and will compare and contrast the issues based on geo-social context. The course integrates lecture and applied experience.
