The study of international political economy (IPE) focuses on concepts and themes related to the intersection of world politics and the global economy. This subfield of political science encompasses a diverse array of topics that include methods of political-economic decision-making, influential actors and institutions, and prospects for international cooperation in areas of trade, finance, and development. This course approaches the central questions of IPE by recognizing developments in political-economic relationships over time, examining the implementation and governance of global economic institutions, and using different theoretical frameworks to explore the nature and implications of contemporary issues relating to the global economy.
