HIST 317 Native American History

An investigation into American Indian culture, language, economics, politics, and interaction with government institutions from pre-Columbian times to the present day. In order to disprove popular myths, embrace empathy, and to build a connection to Native cultural traditions, this class will concentrate on the distinctive nature that Indigenes played in shaping the development and growth of the continental United States. An introduction to the major themes and trends of Indigenous historiography will help students debate the critical issues with respect to the ethical practice of Native American History.
