Paralegal Certificate
The Paralegal Certificate program provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to function successfully as a paralegal in law offices, corporations, government offices and private industry. Paralegals (legal assistants) are not attorneys and are prohibited from practicing law. They work under the supervision of attorneys. Paralegals perform such functions as: Interviewing clients and witnesses; drafting legal documents; conducting legal research; accompanying the attorney to court hearings. Paralegals work in a variety of settings, including: law offices, government agencies, community legal services programs, corporate offices, and consumer organizations. Paralegals must have excellent reading, writing and speaking skills, and the ability to think logically.
