ENGL 308 Theory and Practice of Copy Editing
Topics may include exploration of the nature oftext, the author/editor relationship,fact-checking, and style manuals. The course willalso examine practical issues related to editingtext for contemporary readers, the role ofauthorial voice, and the use of digitaltechnology in the preservation and transmissionof text. Theory will meet practice in assignmentsthat require students to apply various editorialtheories to written texts in both online andoffline environments.
