HIST 345/445 America Between the Wars, 1919-1941

This course examines the era between World War I and World War II, a time of great cultural, political, and economic change. During this period, the rise of the modern state changed the way Americans thought about and related to their government. Ideas about individual rights, social welfare, racial justice, gender equality, and the role of the nation in world affairs changed rapidly. In part because of this transformation, it was a period of tremendous conflict as well between different cultural groups and classes, and between different belief systems.
