PFA 280 Theatre Performance Workshop
A theatre workshop is a type of theatrical performance in which a play is presented, either in selected parts or in its entirety, without the full range of production elements such as scenery, costumes, or technical effects. This course provides students with the opportunity to explore and rehearse theatrical works in a laboratory setting, emphasizing creative experimentation, ensemble collaboration, and performance. The focus is on process and discovery rather than on producing a fully staged show.
Students will engage in continuous, hands-on activity related to rehearsal, performance, and dramaturgy both during and outside of class time, with reasonable accommodations provided for those with physical limitations. Alongside practical work, students will participate in conceptual discussions and collaborative decision-making that contribute to the artistic interpretation of the chosen material.
PFA 280 may be taken as an elective by Theatre majors and minors, and as a free elective by non-Theatre majors and minors. Course enrollment may be repeated up to three (3) times, as the play or performance focus will vary each semester.
