Measurable Performance Objectives (MPOs)

Upon completion of this course, the student will:

  1. Create, format, and print documents suitable for mailing using computer software.
    1. Center text horizontally.
    2. Identify and correct typographical and spelling errors.
    3. Write memos suitable for distribution.
    4. Write business letters suitable for mailing.
    5. Prepare business documents that meet industry standards.
    6. Demonstrate how to format personal titles and complimentary closings in business and personal-business letters.
  2. Use the keyboard to input text and numbers.
    1. Demonstrate how to keyboard by touching the letter (all letters), figure, and symbol keys with acceptable techniques.
    2. Manipulate parts of a keyboard such as the enter key, tab key, space bar, control (ctrl), and shift keys.
    3. Prepare and format various types of tables.
  3. Plan, create, and edit word processing tasks such as letters, reports, tables, memos, and related business communications.
    1. Write, format, and keyboard business letters in block, modified-block, single-page,    and multi-page formats.
    2. Write, format, and keyboard one-page simple reports and multi-page reports with bullets, numbered lists, enumerations, indentations, and pagination.
    3. Create and edit memos.
    4. Identify proofreader's marks when proofing copy.
    5. Write business letters with bullets and numbered lists.
    6. Write personal and/or business letters, memos with lists, and letters with copy notations.
    7. Write and format multi-page rough-draft business reports.
    8. Identify keyed copy, and correct errors.

Evaluation Criteria/Policies

The grade will be determined using the Delaware Tech grading system:

90-100 = A
80-89 = B
70-79 = C
0-69 = F
