PHYS 430 Thermal Physics
The first part of the course focuses on a classical treatment of thermodynamics from the perspective of physics. The second part of the course examines thermodynamics from the modern statistical mechanic's viewpoint. Topics include the fundamental laws of thermodynamics, entropy, ideal gasses, the Boltzmann distribution, the partition function and applications to real systems.
Prerequisite
PHYS 252 and MATH 232.
