CHEM 460 Biochemistry

This course gives an introduction to the major groups of biochemical molecules, enzyme kinetics, molecular evolution, bioinformatics, and catalytic strategies used in anabolic and catabolic pathways.  Special attention is given to regulatory strategies and the integration of metabolism.  The laboratory component includes a semester long research-based project involving enzyme purification and activity assays. Three lectures and one three-hour laboratory period each week. Lab: CHEM 460L
