PMGS 9113 Vascular Surgery Clerkship

In this rotation, students will participate in the management of adult patients presenting with the full range of acute and chronic cardiovascular symptoms and conditions. This clinical rotation with expose the student to the types of procedures performed by an interventional cardiologist with a focus on limb salvage. Students will gain knowledge in the proper perioperative workup and management of patient’s undergoing interventional procedures. They will learn the medical, percutaneous or surgical treatment options for limb salvage. Students are expected to gain understanding of the indications, limitations and contraindications of interventional procedures to best select patients and procedures appropriately.  Students will acquire knowledge of long-term follow-up including secondary prevention and pharmacological treatment of vascular disease.
