PMGS 9110 General Surgery Clerkship
The general surgery clerkship rotation exposes the student to a variety of surgical patients including both routine and emergent surgical cases. Students will gain experience in the care and treatment of surgical patients with emphasis in the evaluation, establishing diagnosis, and development of therapeutic management plans for patients suffering from both acute and chronic surgical conditions. The student will be involved in supporting patients before, during, and after surgery in both ambulatory and in-patient settings. This clinical rotation will afford the student to develop the knowledge, basic manual skills, and professional attitudes about surgical diseases including how to recognize and manage antibiotics and pain medication in a surgical patient.
