Writing Center

The Writing Center (WC), located on the UTRGV Brownsville Campus in BLIBR 3.206 and on the UTRGV Edinburg Campus in ESTAC 3.119, offers UTRGV students assistance with academic writing in all disciplines. Peer consultants, certified by the College Reading and Learning Association, assist students throughout all stages of their writing process. Individual writing consultations may include the following: clarifying an assignment; assisting with the drafting process from ideas, notes and outlines; tailoring the writing to best address the rhetorical situation (purpose audience, and genre); revising and editing an essay for effective organization, clarity, and word choice; creating appropriate voice and tone; assisting with documentation style; and assisting with incorporating source materials. In addition to offering face-to-face individual and small group consultations, the WC offers online support via synchronous Skype and asynchronous daily and weekend writing consultation. The WC also has computers and printer for student use.
