GEST 100 Emirati Studies

This course examines the history, geography, culture, heritage, customs and laws of the United Arab Emirates in past and present times. It discusses the UAEs federal political structure and foreign policies. It also discusses educational reform, economic development, and cultural aspects of UAE society. The course assesses issues of Emirati identity as well as the challenges facing contemporary Emirati society by analyzing the impacts of the rapid growth in the country in terms of social change, population growth, national security, immigration, industrialization, tourism, and foreign investment.
