EMS 111 Emergency Medical Technician Clinical
This course presents the field and hospital experience clinical portions of the most current National Education Standards for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Potentially strenuous and hazardous practical skills such as lifting and carrying techniques in actual patient situations are included in this course. During this course, students will have the opportunity to ride with ambulance services. Students will also have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills obtained throughout the EMT program in the setting of an emergency department. The student is expected to assist preceptors in the care of pre-hospital patients. The student will function under the direction of a preceptor. Students will be expected to complete 45 hours of clinical training/instruction.
