EMS 110 Emergency Medical Technician/Lab
This course follows the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Curriculum along with the American Heart Association (AHA) Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Students will receive information and practice skill demonstrations to prepare them for emergency care at the basic life support level. The student will learn how to assess all medical and traumatic patients. The student will gain basic knowledge in providing medical treatment to patients suffering a medical or traumatic emergency. Group discussions, group and individual scenarios, and group or individual testing facilitate this purpose. The hands-on component of this course is where the physical and mental skills necessary for assessing and treating patients will be taught and tested in small groups and individually. Students should be prepared for rigorous questioning and skill demonstration in front of the instructor and their peers. After successfully completing the course, the student will be eligible to take the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) practical and computer-based examinations.
