Program Description

TMC’s Commercial Bus Operations Curriculum will provide students with competencies and skills needed to assist in obtaining a North Dakota Class ‘B’ Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. Students gain a working knowledge of a bus through a combination of classroom, simulation and behind-the-wheel training that meets the requirements set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT).

Program Requirements

 Must be at least 18 years of age
 Complete a TMC application for admissions
 Valid North Dakota Driver’s License (Class D or Class A)
 Original copy of Birth Certificate*
 Must obtain a Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC)
 Submit a clean drug screen within 5 days of admission into the program
 Students will be required as a prerequisite for CDL 106 Novice Bus Training w/lab pass a drug test before any hands-on training will take place. This is a requirement set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), along with the Department of Transportation (DOT) in 49 CFR Part 40 Subpart F.

*If a student enrolling in the Commercial Bus Training has a “Real ID”, then the student does not need to have a certified copy of their birth certificate.
