EDUC 471 Methods & Materials for Secondary ELA

Methods and materials for Secondary English Language Arts is designed to critically examine pedagogies and content delivery methods for composition and literature, grades 9-12, including specifically addressing national standards and best practices. This course will cover learner differences; adaptive and reflexive teaching; content knowledge in the subject; instructional planning and strategy; and assessment methodologies. This course will also address the inclusion and teaching of diverse texts and learning materials, with a specific emphasis on indigenous education, decolonization, and Native voices and perspective. Importantly, this course will also include a focus on representing the needs of the TMBCI community with regards to skilled secondary ELA instructors.
