Communications Concentration

Concentration Overview

The concentration in Communications offered under the B.A. degree in Liberal Studies includes an 18-credit program that provides students with a solid foundation in the field of communications. The curriculum explores the various aspects of creating, transmitting, and analyzing messages that flow among individuals, groups, organizations, and societies. Students who complete this concentration may also earn an Undergraduate Certificate in Communications.

Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Communications concentration will be able to:

discuss the concepts of mass and personal communication;
prepare mass communication messages in the appropriate style;
apply theories in the use and presentation of images and information;
apply appropriate technology to the creation and dissemination of messages; and
demonstrate critical-thinking and problem-solving skills related to a specific communications topic.
