PSYCH-3 Community Organizing for Social Justice
This experiential learning course focuses on community organizing: growing people-power to make change. Students take on a community organizing role aligned with the department mission to advance social, economic, and environmental justice within our psychology department and the broader communities in which we live and work. Each student will identify a community organizing role within the first week of classes and will complete at least five hours a week (60 hours total) in this role. Class meetings will create space in which students learn from each other and support each other in community organizing. Course materials and discussions will introduce community organizing skills, strategies, and practices used to confront intersecting systems of oppression and grow social justice movements.
