CMPSC-F355 Operating Systems
An intensive, hands-on, hardware-aware study of modern operating systems and their interfaces to real machines from application and systems perspectives. Core topics include protection and privilege, processes and threads, synchronization, CPU scheduling, virtual memory and address translation, file systems, and I/O/interrupts. Throughout, students connect OS abstractions to computer-hardware realities. Programming experience centers on portable C++ system programming with the POSIX API.
