Academic Integrity

An Academic Integrity violation is any act that does or could improperly distort students’ grades or other student academic records. A student enrolls at Ogeechee Technical College to gain technical skills to lead to greater employability. Academic Integrity violations are not only “cheating” the student of learning the needed skills; it is an offense to the integrity of the learning environment. All forms of academic dishonesty will call for discipline.

Procedure for Academic Integrity Violations

Should a student commit an Academic Integrity violation, the instructor will submit an Academic Integrity Report within the Maxient system. Maxient will be reviewed by the assigned Dean for Academic Affairs to determine the appropriate level of offense.

The instructor will be notified of the level of offense and the appropriate action to be taken in accordance with the following procedure:

First Offense

The student will be assigned a grade of “0” for the test or assignment. A record of the incident will be retained in Maxient.

Second Offense

The student will be assigned a grade of “WF” for the course in which the offense occurs. A record of the incident will be retained in Maxient.

Third Offense

The student will be placed on academic suspension for a length of time to be determined by the Vice President for Academic Affairs or designee.
