NUR 4020 COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING
This course focuses on the application of community-based nursing as a population focused approach to planning, delivering, and evaluating nursing care. Community health nursing is a broad field that allows nurses to practice in a wide variety of community settings that promote the health and welfare of clients across the lifespan. Nursing process and community health nursing theories are the basis for clinical decision-making. There is also emphasis on the foundations of population health, which include epidemiology, health promotion, and disease prevention. Principles that guide community health nursing include ethics, advocacy, evidence-based practice, and professional collaboration and communication. Social determinants of health, family dynamics, and cultural issues are examined as they relate to and affect community health nursing interventions and population health outcomes.
