HON 4032 HONORS: CELL BIOLOGY

This course is a modern treatment of cell structure and function with emphasis on the molecular architecture, biochemistry and regulatory mechanisms common to all eukaryotic cells. Topics of discussion will include the structure and function of the major cellular organelles and an analysis of important cellular processes including cell-to-cell communication, gene expression, and oncogenesis. Students will also perform experimental analyses of central problems in cell biology using modern cellular and biochemical techniques. Prerequisite: A minimum grade of C in a biology course numbered 2000 or above. Pre- or corequisite: CHM 2010.
