NUR 6160 Advanced MH Nursing II Practicum
This clinical practicum builds on the first advanced practicum course by expanding the graduate nursing student's ability to integrate theoretical knowledge and clinical guidelines of advanced psychiatric-mental health care. The student gains skill in implementing evidence-based practice interventions, case load management, and analyzing process dynamics with individuals, families, and groups so that patterns in self and others are identified accurately and with regularity. Students will explore the PMHNP scope of practice through exposure to multiple roles and models. They will continue to refine diagnostic skills, pharmacological management, non-pharmacological management, and clinical reasoning. Students will complete clinical hours with an approved site and preceptor. Clinical supervision of process dynamics, reflective practice and evidence-based psychiatric nursing interventions occurs during clinical conference.
