BIO 3550 Signal Transduction
Signal transduction is the method by which cellular "interpretation" of the environment and suitable responses to external and internal messages are conveyed. Through a variety of signal transduction mechanisms, the cell can maintain homeostasis, metabolic functions, adjust cell number, cell behavior and ultimately organismal physiology in multicellular organisms. Signal transduction impacts every aspect of cell molecular biology and physiology. This course will examine signal transductions mechanism and their role on cellular homeostasis, survival and appropriate responses to disease processes.
